Louise Bourgeois

Louise Bourgeois was a French-American artist known for her sculptures, installations, and prints that explored themes of sexuality, gender, and the body. She was born in 1911 in Paris, France, and later emigrated to the United States. She studied at the Art Students League in New York City and became associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement. She is best known for her works such as Maman, Spider, and Cell (Eyes and Mirrors). Bourgeois' work is characterized by her use of organic shapes, raw materials, and her exploration of psychological and emotional themes. She is considered one of the most important artists of the 20th century and her work continues to inspire artists today.
