hidias | Phidias was a Greek sculptor, painter, and architect known for his contributions to the development of Classical Greek art. He was born in 490 BCE in Athens, Greece, and worked on many of the great building projects of his time, including the Parthenon. He is best known for his sculptures such as the Statue of Zeus at Olympia and the Parthenon frieze. Phidias' work had a profound influence on the development of Western art and architecture.
